MIYATAN

Miyatan is the mascot character from Nishinomiya.

Miyatan was born on October 1st, 2011 designed by Yoshikazu Takai.

Nishinomiya has a close connection to water which means there are rivers from the mountains, a legend of a pond, and high quality water for making Sake. The skyblue of Miyatan symbolizes water in Nishinomiya. 

There is a fairy tale about Miyatan.

The fairy loves to look around Nishinomiya. One day, the fairy was given a mission which it had to find treasures and protect them in a mountain in Nishinomiya and get the crown. From that day, fairy is still looking for treasures in Nishinomiya …this story's fairy is Miyatan.

<The secret of Miyatan's pendant>

Considering the latter, it costs a lot to put some ornaments such as yacht or cherry blossom on top of Miyatan’s head and it suppose to be very tough works. Then Mr.Takai thought pendant is better thing than anything to express a lot of sightseeing spot in Nishinomiya because it is cheap and easy to make. Basically, Miyatan has six kinds of pendant and number of these are increasing. He thinks pendant is very good idea because by wearing pendant, people can easy to know Miyatan is the mascot character of the sightseeing spots.

<The contents of Miyatan’s work>

The main work of Miyatan is to appear on stage in front of different audiences, and that purpose is to entertain the audience. All events are held by Nishinomiya-City. Also, Miyatan is trying to be the symbol of Nishinomiya-City.

Picture books and the picture-stories show that were written by Miyatan designer Yoshikazu Takai were on display. This free event was sponsored by Nishinomiya Tourist Association.
